Feel good inc.

So far this year has proved to be a huge step up for the uniquely, uncategorizable band Gorillaz. For the first time in about six years, since the release of ‘The Fall’, the band is finally making their much anticipated come back.

At the beginning of this year following Trumps election, Gorillaz released their collaboration with Benjamin Clementine. a techno gospel sounding single ‘Hallelujah money,’ . This eerie, yet powerful single is an anti-trump protest song, and excited many to what they’ve yet to give.

So far they’ve released 5 singles, and a date for the release of their new album ‘Humanz,’ humans is said to include:

Ascension feat. Vince Staples
Strobelite feat. Peven Everett
Saturnz Barz feat. Popcaan
Momentz feat. De La Soul
Submission feat. Danny Brown & Kelela
Charger feat. Grace Jones
Andromeda feat. D.R.A.M.
Busted and Blue
Carnival feat. Anthony Hamilton
Let Me Out feat. Mavis Staples & Pusha T
Sex Murder Party feat. Jamie Principle & Zebra Katz
She’s My Collar feat. Kali Uchis
Hallelujah Money feat. Benjamin Clementine
We Got The Power feat. Jehnny Beth

Such a range of collaborations only builds Gorillaz fans anticipation for this new album, since 2016, and possibly before, there has been rumours concerning Gorillaz comeback and now its become a reality. From the singles released it sounds like the band are taking a different musical approach, with sounds very different to the conventionally loved albums ‘Gorillaz’ and ‘Demon days’ and although ‘Plastic beach’ was a minor differentiation from such albums, so far ‘Humanz’ is proving to be bravely different and already gained the popularity it deserves. We can only wait to see what else such a band brings.

Our top 5:

  • Empire Ants
  • Clint Eastwood
  • Dirty Harry
  • Kids with guns
